The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Examine robot vacuum cleaner reviews for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.
It's still a good deal particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work when you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the bulky models of the competition. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work, or during the night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's more expensive and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the degree of dirt they are.
For larger homes, it's worth opting for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home via the app or via voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. Also a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
